Search is changing. People still use Google, but they also ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI tools for answers. This creates a new question for content creators: can your brand and articles appear inside AI-generated answers?
Frase now includes tools for AI Visibility and GEO optimization. We tested the real dashboards, prompt tracking, crawler logs, AI-platform research and GEO content scores to see what these features actually show.
The result was interesting. Frase gave us useful data about AI visibility, but our content test also showed that a high GEO score does not mean the article is perfect.

Frase gives content teams a useful way to look at AI search from several directions. It can track brand visibility, monitor prompts, show AI crawler activity and score content for GEO-related signals.
I would not use it as a promise that a page will appear in AI answers. I see it as a measurement and optimization tool. It can show where you may have problems and what could be improved.
What Is GEO?
GEO means Generative Engine Optimization.
Traditional SEO usually focuses on helping pages perform in search engines. GEO looks at another question:
Can AI systems understand, use and possibly cite your content?
This does not mean SEO is dead.
Good content still needs clear structure, useful information, authority and strong sources. GEO adds another layer. It looks at how suitable that information may be for AI-generated answers.
SEO asks: “Can people find my page in search?”
GEO adds: “Can AI systems understand and use my page when creating answers?”
What Is Frase AI Visibility?
Frase AI Visibility is designed to help you monitor how a brand appears in AI-generated results.
During our test, the main dashboard included metrics such as:
- Share of Voice,
- Sentiment,
- Appearance Rate,
- Opportunities.
This is different from looking only at Google rankings.
Instead of asking whether your page is position 3 or 10, AI Visibility asks whether your brand appears at all when an AI platform answers relevant questions.
Frase Can Track Specific Prompts
One of the more useful features is prompt tracking.
You can monitor specific questions or prompts and check whether the brand appears in AI-generated answers.
This makes more sense than checking random AI answers once.
AI results can change. If you track the same important prompts over time, you can see whether your visibility improves or disappears.
Frase Also Tracks AI Crawler Visits
Another interesting part of the AI Visibility area is crawler tracking.
Our screen showed activity for AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot.
This does not mean that a crawler visit guarantees a citation.
But it can still answer a useful question:
Are AI crawlers reaching my site?
Frase Can Analyze AI Platforms During Content Research
AI Visibility is not only a separate monitoring dashboard. Frase also brings AI-platform research into the article creation process.
During our AI Writer test, Frase analyzed the topic before writing. One part of the research showed findings, citations, named competitors and evidence.
This is useful because it connects GEO research with content creation.
Before writing, you can see:
- which competitors are mentioned,
- what evidence appears useful,
- what citations are already present,
- where Frase sees possible opportunities.
Frase Found an Interesting AI Visibility Gap
Another research screen gave us one of the most useful findings in the test.
Frase found several competitors that were present in normal SERP results but were missing from the analyzed AI results.
It also reported that our brand was not mentioned by the tested AI platforms.
This is exactly why I would not assume that good Google visibility and good AI visibility are always the same.
A competitor can be strong in traditional search and still be weak in AI answers. That may create an opportunity.
Frase Includes AI Citation-Ready Content Rules
Frase also includes content quality rules designed around AI citations.
The detailed rule set we saw included requirements around:
- GEO score,
- Key Takeaways,
- FAQ content,
- content depth.
Our Real GEO Score Test
The strongest part of this review comes from our real AI Writer test.
Frase generated a complete article for us. When we opened the detailed optimization panel, it did not show only one score.
It separated:
- EEAT,
- GEO,
- SEO.
| Metric | Our result |
|---|---|
| Overall | 69 |
| EEAT | 38% |
| GEO | 84% |
| SEO | 84% |
This result is very useful because it shows that strong GEO and SEO scores do not automatically mean strong EEAT.
The article still needed more real experience, stronger expertise and human editing.
Frase Breaks the GEO Score Into Smaller Parts
When we opened Improve this draft, Frase gave us more detail.
Our test showed GEO categories such as:
| GEO area | Score in our test |
|---|---|
| Quotability | 88% |
| Structure | 90% |
| Definitions | 60% |
| Takeaways | 93% |
| Citable Data | 80% |
This is more useful than one GEO number because it shows why the score is high or low.
In our case, definitions were clearly weaker than structure and takeaways.
Then Something Strange Happened
This was probably the most interesting part of our GEO test.
We asked Frase to improve the article.
You may expect an Improve feature to increase every score. That is not what Frase predicted.
In the final preview, Frase predicted:
- +36 words,
- EEAT: 48 → 48,
- GEO: 84 → 78,
- SEO: 84 → 84.
I actually like that Frase showed this warning.
It would be worse if the tool simply called every AI change an improvement.
What Happened After Improve?
After applying the changes, the article grew from 2,275 to 2,311 words. The general Content Score moved to 70.
This test shows why it is useful to look at several metrics instead of chasing one number.
A page can improve in one area while another signal changes very little or even moves down.
Can Frase Help You Rank in AI Search?
It can help you understand and improve some of the signals around AI visibility.
But I would be careful with the word rank.
Frase can help you:
- track whether your brand appears in AI answers,
- monitor selected prompts,
- see AI crawler activity,
- compare SERP and AI competitors,
- find citation and evidence opportunities,
- measure GEO-related content signals,
- identify weaker areas such as definitions or citable data.
What it cannot do is guarantee that ChatGPT, Perplexity or another AI system will mention your brand.
Frase GEO vs Traditional SEO
| Traditional SEO | GEO / AI Search | |
|---|---|---|
| Main goal | Perform well in search results | Be useful and visible in AI-generated answers |
| Competition | SERP competitors | Brands and sources mentioned by AI platforms |
| Tracking | Rankings, clicks, CTR | Mentions, appearance, prompt visibility |
| Content focus | Keywords, structure, intent, authority | Clear structure, quotability, definitions, citable data and useful answers |
| Should you choose only one? | No. Our test suggests that SEO and GEO work better as connected layers. | |
What I Like About Frase GEO & AI Visibility
1. It Connects Monitoring With Content Creation
Frase does not keep AI visibility completely separate from writing. AI research also appears during the article workflow.
2. Prompt Tracking Is Practical
Tracking specific questions over time is more useful than manually testing a few random prompts once.
3. The GEO Score Has Detail
Seeing quotability, structure, definitions, takeaways and citable data makes the score easier to understand.
4. Frase Shows Uncomfortable Results
I liked that Frase showed our weak EEAT score even when GEO and SEO looked strong.
I also liked that Improve warned us about a possible GEO drop.
A useful tool should not tell you that everything is excellent.
What I Do Not Like
1. There Are Many New Metrics
Share of Voice, Appearance Rate, GEO, EEAT, SEO, Quotability and Citable Data can feel like a lot for a beginner.
The numbers are useful only if you understand what action to take next.
2. A High GEO Score Can Look More Powerful Than It Is
Our article had a GEO score of 84%.
That did not mean the article was automatically ready to publish. EEAT was much weaker.
3. AI Visibility Is Not Under Your Full Control
You can improve content and monitor results. You cannot force an external AI platform to cite or mention your site.
Who Is Frase AI Visibility Best For?
Good fit
- SEO teams,
- content marketers,
- brands watching AI search,
- publishers with many articles,
- businesses already investing in organic visibility.
Probably too much if
- you only need a basic AI writer,
- you publish very little content,
- you do not plan to track visibility over time,
- you only want one simple SEO score.
How I Would Use Frase for GEO
I would keep the workflow simple.
- Choose important customer questions. Start with prompts that match real search intent.
- Track your current AI visibility. See whether your brand already appears.
- Look at competitors. Check which brands appear in AI answers and which are missing.
- Review AI-platform evidence. Look for useful sources, claims and gaps.
- Create or improve the article. Do not write only for the GEO score.
- Check GEO, SEO and EEAT together. One good score is not enough.
- Review AI changes manually. Especially before using Improve.
- Track the same prompts again later. GEO is more useful as an ongoing process than as a one-time check.

How This Fits Into Our Full Frase Test
GEO is only one part of Frase. During our larger test, we also used its AI Writer, Improve workflow, SEO tools, Site Audit and Brand Voice features.
Frase Improve Content Review →
Frase GEO & AI Visibility Review: Final Verdict
Frase is moving beyond normal content optimization.
The AI Visibility tools give you a way to watch brand mentions, prompts and crawler activity. The content workflow then adds AI-platform research and GEO scoring.
That combination is useful.
The best part for me is not the GEO score itself. It is the connection between:
monitor → research → create → score → improve → monitor again
Our test also gave us an important warning. The generated article reached GEO 84% and SEO 84%, while EEAT was only 38%. Later, Frase itself predicted that an AI improvement could reduce GEO from 84 to 78.
This is why I would use Frase as a guide, not as an automatic ranking machine.
Frase GEO & AI Visibility FAQ
What is GEO in Frase?
GEO is Frase’s way of looking at content signals related to generative search and AI-generated answers. In our test, the GEO score included areas such as quotability, structure, definitions, takeaways and citable data.
Can Frase track my brand in AI answers?
In our test, the AI Visibility dashboard included brand visibility metrics and prompt tracking so we could monitor whether the brand appeared for selected questions.
Can Frase track ChatGPT and other AI crawlers?
We tested the Crawler Logs dashboard, which showed activity from AI-related crawlers including GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot.
Does a high GEO score mean I will appear in AI search?
No. I would treat GEO as an optimization signal, not a guarantee. External AI platforms still decide which sources and brands they use.
What GEO score did our Frase article get?
Our test article showed a GEO score of 84%, while SEO was also 84%. The EEAT score was much lower at 38%, which showed that the draft still needed work.
Can Frase Improve increase GEO automatically?
Not always. In our test, Frase predicted that one set of proposed edits could reduce GEO from 84 to 78. This is why I recommend reviewing the changes before applying them.
Is GEO the same as SEO?
No. They overlap, but they are not identical. SEO focuses on traditional search visibility, while GEO looks more closely at how content may work inside AI-generated answers.
Should I focus on GEO instead of SEO?
I would not choose one and ignore the other. Our Frase test showed separate SEO, GEO and EEAT scores, and each one told us something different about the article.
